The FAEA is one of oldest ASEAN Associations, being set up in 1967 at Prapat, North Sumatera, Indonesia. It is a union of economic societies and associations in Southeast Asia and currently comprises the respective Economic Societies of Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippiines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Through the Federation, economic associations of ASEAN countries work together to advance knowledge on economic issues in the ASEAN region. A key activity of this Federation is the FAEA conference, convened annually. ASEAN countries take turns to host the conference, rotation following the ASEAN practice of alphabetical order.
